Khujand, Tadjikistan

Juyand est la deuxième ville la plus peuplée du Tadjikistan, proche des frontières de l'Ouzbékistan et du Kirghizistan. Pendant l'Union soviétique, elle était connue de 1936 à 1991 sous le nom de Léninabad. Elle est située au sud de la rivière Syr Darya, à l'entrée de la vallée de Fergana. C'est la capitale de la province de Sughd. Sa population approximative est de 172 700 habitants et elle se trouve à 321 mètres au-dessus du niveau de la mer. La population de son agglomération urbaine atteint 724 000 habitants.
