Disappointing Stay - Falls Short of Expectations
We were very disappointed with our stay at Tanoa Waterfront Lautoka. While advertised as a 4-star hotel, it felt more like a 2-star experience.
Basic Amenities: Only one bed sheet was provided, which is unusual even in many 3-star hotels.
Poor Hygiene: The bathroom had visible mold in the shower and around the soap dispenser, which was concerning.
Lack of Utensils: The room was not adequately equipped with basic utensils.
Soap Dispenser Issues: The soap dispenser in the shower was either not working or empty, forcing us to frequently exit the shower to use the dispenser in the vanity. This lack of attention to detail by the cleaning staff was disappointing.
Suspicious Taxi Arrangements: We suspect collusion between taxi drivers and front desk staff. The hotel quoted us $25 for a short 10-minute taxi ride to the local hospital. We hailed a taxi outside the hotel and only paid $5. This felt like an attempt to overcharge tourists.
Overall: This accommodation is more akin to a 2-star motel than a 4-star hotel. We were extremely disappointed with the lack of attention to detail and the apparent attempt to overcharge us for transportation.

لاوتوکا, فیجیلاوتوکا دومین شهر بزرگ فیجی است. این شهر در ساحل غربی جزیره ویتی لوو، در استان با از بخش غربی قرار دارد. لاوتوکا در قلب منطقه کشت نیشکر فیجی واقع شده و به همین دلیل به عنوان "شهر شکر" شناخته می‌شود. این شهر با مساحتی حدود ۳۲ کیلومتر مربع، در سرشماری سال ۲۰۱۷ که آخرین سرشماری تا به امروز است، جمعیتی برابر با ۷۱,۵۷۳ نفر داشت.
نام این شهر از دو کلمه فیجیایی به معنای "ضربه نیزه" گرفته شده است. بر اساس یک سنت شفاهی، این نام پس از دوئلی بین دو رئیس قبیله به وجود آمد. هنگامی که یکی از آنها دیگری را با نیزه زد، گزارش شده که فریاد زد "لاو-توکا!" ("به هدف خورد!").
