Ciudad del Este is a city in the east end of Paraguay, capital of the department of Alto Parana. It is called the Garden City by vegetation in urban areas, although the growth of the city has been decreasing its green areas. It is mainly a shopping destination. While shopping tourism is what most characterizes Ciudad del Este, in the area there are numerous tourist attractions of various kinds: The Itaipu Dam, one of the world's biggest hydroelectric plants.
