Thunder Bay, located in Northern Ontario, lies at the far northwestern point of the Great Lakes of North America, and is a transportation bridge between the rich agricultural Prairies of Canada and the Atlantic Ocean and the rest of the world. It was formerly two cities known as Port Arthur and Fort William. They joined in the 1970's to form Thunder Bay. The city is full of multicultural events, shopping centers, restaurants, biking and walking trails, and acres of in the city limits parks. It sits on Lake Superior’s huge Thunder Bay across which you can see the Sleeping Giant Mountain. Situated at the tip of Lake Superior, Thunder Bay is rather remote and is best known for its outdoor attractions and beautiful surroundings. Northern Ontario is truly a nature lover’s paradise with pristine lakes and rivers, endless forests and rocky cliffs and mountains. Camp out beneath the stars, hike the Sleeping Giant, swim in Lake Superior, go skiing or berry picking, there are tons of options to enjoy this gorgeous destination.
